- A Crock of Gold.
There is a crock of gold supposed to be buried in a bog near my home. The bog is called " Ballyrohan Bog". The gold mentioned is under a big "sceac" tree. The tree is plainly to be seen and situated in about the middle of the bog.
A man from the neighbouring village, Curraghteskin, was in America and during his time there, he dreamt three nights in succession that the gold was in the bog.. So he came home in hopes to find the gold.
He went to search for it, but was frightened by some ghost and went back ro America without finding it. My father was ploughing in the field next to the bog and discovered a peculiar kind of building down in the ground.
There was a round stone on top of the building and it was shaped like a kiln under. It must have been money that was hidden there, but as my father never thought of any money being hidden there, he did not trouble about it any farther, perhaps if he did he would have found a fortune.- Faisnéiseoir
