- St Patrick's Cross
Long ago it was an old custom here in the school to make St Patricks Cross to wear on St Patrick's Day. The day before was spent making and colouring them. Each child brought an egg. The yellow colour was got from the yoke of this. The green was made by squeezing the juice of the plant called the pennyworth. Any surplus eggs were sold at the shop and sweets bought and distributed amongst the drawers.
