I
The day I sailed from this Irish Nation
'Twas as dark and dismal as a silent
For to be leaving my old habitation
The foaming billows my doom to brave
When I launched out on the angry
With dark emotion my mind did toil
In contemplating that I was leaving
That dear old station Clonbrick and Arle2.
The last sad gland I beheld of Erin
Was the rugged summits of high Cape Clear
All sails were hoisted, all views were blighted
And all cheeks were moistened by the rolling tear
By Neptune's guiding the waves were rising
And calmly finding tho' the sea did boil
My destination was by emigration
From that rural station in Clonbrick and Ayle(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
