It is said locally that a man and woman, believed to be Danes, were buried beneath this stone.There is another fort on John Quirke's farm Ayle. There are 3 large mounds within this fort and they are supposed to be the resting place of 3 giantsThere is an old castle on Valentine Ryan's farm in th townland of Longford Gold was believed be buried there. Some people went to search for this gold but before reaching the castle a man on a white horse rode out of the castle and kept circling round it until the gold seekers departed.
