Long ago it was said that the king of the fairies lived in Scanlon's island to protect any Aran fishermen coming to the Pond.
The Skeretts were a very rich family who lived in Finavarra house.
Once upon a time when the carriages were in full swing, a nun came from Dublin to live in Finavarra house and every time she went to church a carriage followed her. This carriage was visible to some people and invisible to others.
It is supposed that there is a gold altar in one of the three ancient forts of Murtyclough.
