On Tuesday the eldest son George Ward tried to come out but he was set upon by Sorrel Falone, (?)and fell mortally wounded with eighteen gashes, he lingered until the 20th May and then died. On Wednesday morning as Mrs Ward looked out of a window-loop (?) she was shot and died in the room where her husband had held out for twenty four hours after the rest of the castle was in the enemies' hands.Ward in his agony and despair opened the door and struck at the men outside, one of whom caught him by the arm and slew him.The seven other inmates of the castle were brought in safety to the house of Richard White of Kilmurry and eventually reached Dublin safely. The bodies of Peter Ward, his wife, and son George were buried beside the castle.Daniel O'Brien of Dough, Lahinch, now arrived at Tromoroe, he removed the bodies and buried them in Kilmurry Church from which place they were once more removed to the graveyard by Daniel McScanlan McGorman of Dunsallagh.The plunder was divided by O'Flaherty's followers but a quarrel arose. A certain John Browne, a drummer boy, demanded a certain silver cup but was refused. He waited his chance for eleven(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
