  1. When priests wore forbidden to preach in the penal times, it is only natural that they should try to keep the Word of God in the minds of Irish Catholic. This was done by the faithful servants of God who went about in disguise secretly preaching the True Faith. it was in the farmhouses or on the mountain side that the priests used to say Masses . There are plenty of Mass Rocks still to be found in Ireland. There is one of these Mass Rocks in the parish of Lordship at Ravensdale. It is at the back of Mr Connolly's house and was supposed to have been used by Blessed Oliver Plunket in 1678 . This Mass Rock is all covered with moss and is reached by a small path. This story was obtained by Nora Dawe, Old Road, Bellurgan, Dundalk.
