- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)St. Brigid. She was born at Faughart and played round the little stream.
It happened when she was a young lady that a bad man wanted to marry Bridget because she was a lovely lady, but the St. did not like him because he was a pagan. She got on her white horse and intended to ride away, but the man followed her - Bridget's horse jumped the stream, and the pagan fell into it.
When Bridget got to the other side, she plucked out her eye to make herself ugly. She left her eye on a small stone and that stone was later called the eye stone because many people were cured(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
