- In the olden times food was scarce in this and mostly every part in the country. There were three meals a day when the food was obtainable. The chief food then was potato bread, and Indian meal bread and also a little butter-milk to drink.
The food was eaten three times a day when they had it. Sometimes for breakfast they had oaten meal porridge. The men got up at six o'clock in the morning and went out to work without any food; they then came back for their breakfast at eight o'clock.
