- Paddy Óg McGorman taught in Shelagh in Molly Meegan's byre beside the old thatched chapel, about 100 years ago.He was paid 3d per day by big pupils and 2d by small ones. Had a big book called "The Seagull" from which he got questions for his pupils.Subjects taught were, Reading, Writing, Arithmetic, History, and Catechism. Catechism, Prayers and History taught in Irish.No Blackboards - slab of stone and shanks of clay pipes used for chalk - stone pencils used by children and also goose-quill pens.
