A large house in Mayne is known as Mayne House. About twenty years ago there was a skull in it. There is a long passage leading to the kitchen, and the skull was there. The McMahons who owned the place at that time, buried it in Dunany. In about a week after, it was found by a man called Boyle who lived near the place. They buried it in a different place up near Togher, and it was never seen again.
There is a house called McGuill's in Mayne. It is up a lane. In front of the door there are old mud walls.
