- Monasterboice tower and cross situated about three miles from Collon, in the parish of Tenure, were founded by St Buithe in the sixth century. Tradition says that the tower was built by an old woman one night with an apronful of stones. She was almost finished when dawn broke, and she jumped from the top of the tower, and left the mark of her heels in the stone at the bottom, and that's the reason of the broken piece at the top; but probably it was struck by lightning
There are two old Celtic crosses and the ruins of a small church in the graveyard. The crosses, which are still perfect, have the images of the twelve Apostles, Our Lord Crucified, and others carved upon them.(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
