The people of the locality do not lack in giving a helping hand to each other, and nearly every farmer helps his neighbour in some way when necessary. In like manner that neighbour repays him by giving him a helping hand in return.
When the stalks of the potatoes appear above the ground they are second covered. It is also necessary to grub and hoe them as they require treatment during the Summer months.
The chief work of Autumn consists of the digging out of the potatoes, a work which is also completed by means of a plough. The plough upturns the potatoes while the pickers are busily following picking and sorting them. Afterwards they are brought home and tidily pitted for the year.
