(with some others) as being no credit to the Papal Army.
    Act III - 1870 (about)
Jippy was working with other men in a harvest "meiteal". Old Francis Murphy J.P. a son of the Crewer, rode up and to make fun, he shouted out "Who betrayed the Pope"? Jippy retorts in an equally loud voice "Who betrayed Tara"?
(The "J.P." moves away silently while Jippy's friends smile.)
This story is told and its truth vouched for by a former resident of Johnstown T.J. Sheridan now N.T. Cross Mullagh, Kells, who says "I remember poor Jippy coming into school when I was a boy there to see Trieste and Ancona on the maps and to boast of his dealings with the "Retalians."
