- There lived in Moynalty a carpenter named Patrick Cahill who owned a donkey called Pontius Pilate. He had a great habit of kicking; he could kick you between the two shoulders and you standing at his head. It happened one day that a postman named James Reilly, better known as “the bar” went to take his donkey home from the old Cemetry where he was grazing. Francis Farrelly was sitting opposite the barrack and he was asked by “the bar” to come to his assistance. He did so and brought an ash plant with him.
