as it was found to be impossible to keep the horse away from his master's grave(yard)
The old road at Archerstown ran on on the eastern side of the Churchyard convenience to the large mansion now in occupation of the Reynell family. Now Battersby considered that this old road ran too near his mansion so he caused it to be removed to the western side of the churchyard. The new road was made directly through the old churchyard and the western part of the churchyard which was cut off, was scattered as top-dressing on the adjoining lands and when farmers are tilling their lands convenient to the churchyard they turn up the bones of the dead, which were scattered about at the time the new road was made.
