    When the monks lived on the Island their cemetery there was strictly confined to priests and monks. One of the O'Reillys "The Lord of Ross Castle" took a strange notion to be buried in the Friars' graveyard and before his death, in violation of the Friars' rights, he gave instructions that his body should be laid to rest on Church Island.
