The priests objected to this and decided to build a school for the Catholics alone. At the building of that school everyone helped and we are told the work was completed in three weeks. This is now the girls' school. There was also a private school run by people called Caireys situated at the end of the village. For sewing the girls had to go up to a house nearby. Boarders from Trim and Mullingar attended this school. Some old women are still alive who attended it.
