    Basket-making
A Ciseán was usually oval in shape and had a handle to go over the arm and a lid divided into two parts. It was used for carrying the eggs to market and the groceries were carried home in it. The rods were first peeled for the Ciseán too, after having been boiled.

    Gobáin
These were little baskets that were invariably put on the mouth of a very young calf to prevent it picking up anything that would be injurious to it until the calf commenced to chew the cud.

    Bórán
This was made from sheep's skin. When a sheep died the skin was removed carefully and the wool was pulled off. Then the skin was stretched on a wooden hoop about 1 1/2 feet in diameter. The skin was folded neatly all around the edges of the hoop and while still warm and pliable clung tightly to the hoop. This was used when winnowing oats for filling the corn and for carrying oats from the barn to the stable.
