    A slam a wool was placed on one card and the teeth of the other card was pulled quickly across it and the prepared wool was then rolled into shape on the back of the card. This work was continued until all the wool that was required was carded into rolls about twelve inches long.
    Then the spinning wheel was set up and the spindle placed in position. The wool was placed on the spindle and held in position by the left hand while the wheel was turned by the first finger of the right hand. When spinning women and girls usually sang at their work. When the spindle was filled it was removed from the wheel and another spindle inserted and so on until sufficient yarn was spun.
    Then the yarn was wound off the spindle by the woman holding two spindles between the big toe and and first toe of each foot and winding the two threads together. This double
