Horse Shoe. To find one it is considered the luckiest of all omens. It should be nailed to the front door and it must be the right way up so as to hold in the luck. If it is turned up the other way the luck drops out.
A Picture Falling. It is an omen of death in the family if the picture falls from its place on the wall.
Singing. If you sing before breakfast you will cry before night.
Washing hands. It is a sign of a quarrel if you wash your hands in the water used by another unless you make the sign of the cross on the water before you use it.
Decorations. It is unlucky to leave Christmas decorations hanging up after Twelfth Day or there will be a loss in the famaily before the year is out.
Thirteen. It is an omen of misfortune for thirteen people to be seated at dinner. Judas Iscariot was the thirteenth at the last Supper.
To Trip. If you trip over a mat when going upstairs it signifies a wedding at the house in the near future.
