- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)an oval shape about twelve inches long. Over the fire was a construction which the called a trough and after drying the rushes and after dipping them in the tallow they placed them in the troughs to stiffen. In the centre of the floor a round block of wood was placed with a long stick out of it wich held at its top a candlestick resembling a pincers. Inside in this they poured the tallow and in the centre of it they put the wick. The candle was secured in it until it became hard. When it would burn down "Help the candle" was addressed to the one nearby.
