- The night of the big wind fell in the year 1839 in the month of November. On that day the whole place got dark, there was not as much wind out as would quench a candle and everyone thought the clouds were on the ground. Then coming on to evening the wind began to blow and no one could get out or they would be blown away. The men that were away far from there homes could not get home they had to sleep in neighbour's houses. On the next morning there were trees and cocks of hay blown down and roofs were blown off houses. There were several lives lost in this locality.

- In the year 1903 there was a very big storm almost as big as the storm in 1839. There was a lot of damages done on that night such as old houses blown down; ricks of hay and straw blown into their neighbour's fields; trees uprooted and blown(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
