- There was a poplar tree growing in Hugh Mulvihill's field of Castlecor. It was cut down in the year 1850 but the roots of it are still there. It was said that Fr. O'Brien P.P. of Legan was killed under it and buried under it. It was said that his gold chalice was buried with him. At the other side of the tree there was a crock of gold hidden in the year 1850. The value of the gold was supposed to be £2000. There was a hole cut down in the middle of the butt of the tree and some kind of a worm was put on a thorn and stuck to it, and according as the worm would wither the butt of the tree would rot. The tree is 14 feet in circumference and when it is rotten the person who will walk six feet round the tree shall dig for the gold. It is said that a woman(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
