   Some of the escaping men reached the Rim river near where the village of Cloonageer stands now. All the people in the village had become Protestants a short while before that and were very much opposed to the rebels. One of them approached a house for food. A man though a Protestant like the rest raised his head over the hedge and told him not to go into that house, for if he did he would be caught and his whole company shot. The man took the hint. He went back along with his companions and stayed
