There is a place called "Cnoc an Óir" at the back of the Moat in the townland of Teemore in the parish of Granard, Co. Longford, which means "The Hill of Gold".
At the time of the Danish Wars in Ireland people hid gold there for safety and at that time it was worth £300. They expected to have the gold dug up again when the Danes had gone out of Ireland.
