- At night when the moon is surrounded by a circle, it is a sign of rain and the larger the circle the nearer the rain. When the stars are glittering very brightly at night it is a sign of frost. When the wind is settled in the North, it is another sign of frost. When the wind changes to the South, it is a sign of rain. When the wind is from the East, we have often a very cold spell of heavy rain. If it settles there, we have often a long spell of dry weather. When the wind changes to the West, it is a sign of rain, but if it settles there without rain we have often the best weather at all for the country. If we have high winds especially from the West, and if the sky looks a glaring red, we may expect hurricanes.(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
