  1. Poor bleeding victim there you lie
Your moments now are near a close
No more about the fields you'll fly
Or sport about with comrade crows.
Oh where's the heart that would not feel
To see you gasping in your gore
Your panting breast your bloody bill
And all your jetty plumage tore.
No more your glossy wing you'll spread
To view the spacious country round
Oh, If I could I'd raise your head
And heal that frightful mortal wound.
Alas poor bird in this lone hour
You're quite deserted by your friends
But if it were not past my power
My presence now would make amends
