- Long ago when the English were trying to take this country the people went to Mass in the fields.
About two hundred years ago the people attended Mass in a corner of the rocks in the townland of Stonepark, Parish of Ballymacormack, Co. Longford.
The priest also came to the houses and said Mass in them whilst somebody in the house would watch out for the English soldiers. Mass is still said in the houses in this District.
The Chapel that is in the school District is situated in the townland of Curry. Before this Chapel was built Mass was celebrated in a house in the townland of Rockspring. When this Chapel was built the altar was taken out of the house and it has been occupied with several different families ever since.
There is also an old ruined church in the Ballymacormack cemetery which was built by St Finian the patron saint of the parish. Cromwell took it over for Protestant service, but it was not long after there came a stormy night and the roof was blown off. The church was never again repaired and nothing remains today but the ruined building.
There are many Mass Paths in the District namely:- One from Clonkeen to Curry Chapel, another from(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
