- In April 1918 a great snow storm broke over this district. It was fair day in Wexford and many people had to travel home along the New Line because the other roads were blocked by the snow.
The wind had drifted the snow very high in places. A snow plough at Johnstown cleared a passage way to Kate's Cross. Another passage was made from Sleedagh up to this cross.- Collector
