They took up a lighting candle and made for the door. When they reached the door they heard a heavy step comming down the stairs. Johnny turned to shut the door but he could not do so. The door was jammed as if some one put his foot between the door and the doorcase. They made for their neighbour's houses as fast as their legs could carry them. They stopped there until morning.
   They went back the next morning and found the door as they had left it and the hen was on her eggs
