- About half a mile from my house stands the ancient castle of Mulrankin. It is now inhabited by a family named Lambert. But long ago during the penal days a very cruel man lived there with his wife and chid. As mass was forbidden to be said in these days the people used to gather once a week at a secret spot to celebrate the sacrifice. To get to this place the people had to pass through this man's field This used to see him so much that one Sunday he determined to put a stop to the trespass by putting a bull in the field. But the people passed by and the bull never touched them. The man was so angry with the bull that he went out with a stick to give it a good beating. But the bull turned on him and killed him. His wife who was watching the proceedings from the top of the castle got such a shock that she fell from the top of the castle and was killed The path where the people used to cross can still be seen. It is now known as the mass path.
