2nd September 1938The Mexico a ship with a cargo of timber bound for Wexford came in collision against some rocks called the Carrig Rocks, which lie about four miles from a little village called Cullenstown. The Fethard Life Boat with a crew of twelve men went to the rescue. While the Life Boat was on the sea a storm arose, the Life Boat capsized and all the men were drowned. Amongst the crew were the Captain Mr Walsh of Wexford was lost. A cross has been erected in Cullenstown to their memory.Teresa Cullen
