“There used to be a green light coming from a kiln and going into a wood near my house.”
There used to be a green light coming from a kiln and going into a wood near my house.
Two men from Clongeen by the names of James Murphy and Michael Curtis came to see what this light might be. Those men hid at the back of a ditch near where the light used to start. They saw the light starting from the kiln and it came in the direction of them. The men did not stir but the light came nearer and nearer to them and after a while it came and stood before their faces. The men were very much afraid so they ran down by the ditch and the light ran also. The men then saw the light again and ran in the direction of home and they did not see the light any more that night.
In about three nights after James Murphy was cutting trees in the wood where the lights used to come. He began to saw one of the trees when he was cutting awhile the light appeared about one hundred yards before him. James was very much afraid but he kept on sawing. This was a very hard tree to saw and he was a good while sawing. When the tree was falling it fell on James and killed him. This(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
