The other roads were made earlier than this.
There are many old roads in the district.
The Ardcolm and Begerin Road now called "Ballyla Lane" which leads down to Begerin where St. Ibar once had his monastery. Another very old road in the district is the Braketstone now called "The Braketstone Lane". Many years ago the Dublin coach passed over this road at least on a few occasions as I have been told by an old man in the district.
All these roads are still used although some of them are merely byroads or lane-ways.
Instead of being fully paid the men only got fourpence a day and yellow meal as well, there were three members of an open committee, Rev. Fr. Doran CC, Mr. Denny Kehoe a baker, who lived in a house in the village of Castlebridge now owned by Mr Davis.
