   The plover
   Mr John Chapman, of Tobergal, Ferns, Co Wexford, told me he shot a plover which he found to be ringed. He wrote to the address on the ring, Mr Witherbee, London and this man who was an ornithologist told him the bird had been ringed in Cheshire, England (when a nestling).
