Our landlord was Mr. Donovan of Ballymore. The landlord was not bad. He never evicted anyone.Patrick Brien.
Ballyorley, Boolavogue, Ferns, Co Wexford.My grandfather (Mr John Kavanagh (71 yrs) - same address) told me this. - Food in Olden TimesLong ago people had three meals every day, breakfast, dinner and supper. At that time people used to work for about an hour before breakfast because they said it was healthy to get the fresh air before breakfast. In olden times people used oaten meal for breakfast and supper because at that time people used to bring their own oats to a mill and get it ground into oatenmeal and in that way people had plenty of oaten- meal very cheap.
Potatoes, cabbage and bacon were used for dinner. At that time people used to kill a pig of their own and salt it and in that way they would have bacon cheaper than if they were buying it in a shop.
