Several attempts have been made to level it and make it useful but in a few years it has resumed it's irregular shapes.
It is said that this is due to the fairies from the old moat near by, which gives the name to the district (Ballymotey).
It is also said that these humps are arranged to suit the fairie's games which some people in that neighbourhood say they have seen them playing on moonlight nights.
Strange, weird, sweet music and twinkling, vanishing lights are declared a usual occurrence.
Few lonley travellers who know the place will willingly pass it at night and it is certain that on All Soul's night it will be carefully avoided.
