- 232St. David's Well
At Ballinaslaney situate about eight miles south of Enniscorthy and one mile from the village of Oylegate there is a well called after St. David. It's called St. David's Well.
About seventy five years ago this well the scene of activity. It had become know that several people had been cured of their ailments by its water and other invalids and visitors came to see the place.
Special trains were run to Enniscorthy. From there all kinds of vehicles were used to convey the people both invalids and spectators. Iron sheds were erected for the convenience of pilgrims and those sheds are still standing there. Other proof of those pilgrimages is the number of crutches, sticks, all sorts of religious objects and other things which are still to be seen there near the well.
If it is to be taken that these articles were left behind by invalids who had been cured the number of cured effected at the well was great indeed.
It is not known whether any invalids visit the well nowadays. There are no further cures rumoured and there is no activity there(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
