Age : 56 years - (2) There are several raths in my vicinity. Donanore is the best known. It is called a moate. It is protected by the river Boro and by very deep dykes. It is said that there is a gold mine here and that is how it got it's name . There are many stories told of people looking for gold there.
A door is said to open in the rock very seven years. It is said thay one man got in and the gold was so plentiful that he went for a horse to get a horse load but when he came the door was shut.
