He fought from the beginning to the end of the rebellion.
He also lived in Drummond Lane. He was a mason by trade and before joining the insurgents he built the house in which Thady now lives - it is the oldest house in Ballyellis.
After the rebellion he had to remain in hiding in the Wicklow mountains for three years until the fierce persecution of the rebels had somewhat abated.
He used tmeet car-men from Carnew on their way to and from Dublin and get all local news from them and eventually they decided that he might retuen.
