- 143In 1798 Father John Murphy and his men assembled on Carraig Ruadh about 1/2 mile from Clologue. This is the hill referred to in the Ballad
"Kelly, the boy from Killane" where the heroic Priest "sprang up the rocks with a warning cry".
All the men of the district took part in the fight at Boolavogue and Oulart. Some were killed and others returned to their homes after the Battle of Oulart.
There is a tradition also that the ashes and bones of Father John Murphy were collected and brought for burial to the old graveyard in Ferns.Brought by Peggie Maguire
