    2. A frog rubbed on the teeth and gums and a promise made never to kill a frog or allow any one else to do so was also an old cure long ago.
    Rheumatism: The following liniment was often made and used by Mrs Howlett
    Ingredients: 1 glass turpentine
    1 glass best whiskey
    1 glass vinegar
    beaten yolks of two eggs
    a little spirits of camphor
    Mix all together in a large bottle
    cork and let stand for 24 hours.
    Shake well before using and then rub
    well into the joints preferably before the fire
    Sprains: Marsh-Mallow leaves steeped in hot water and applied to the injured part.
    Mumps: The leaves of the Yellow Iris found in bogs split, warmed and applied
