This was a great improvement on the old bellows for in the first place it was much more tidy and a child could work it as well as a giant. The old bellows was an awkward thing with a long timber handle. The bellows was held in place with two strong pieces of wood with lugs on each side secured in these wooden posts. The bellows was made of two large wooden slabs. These were connected by large pieces of basil.
