   Another custom which still exists in that of making offerings to the priest on the occasion of a funeral. Before the coffin is put into the hearse those attending the funeral place their offerings on a table at the church door. It is said that this custom remained in all the places through which St. Patrick passed.
   In some places in the district another old custom survives. On Hallow Eve night the woman of the house leaves the kitchen prepared for the visit of the Holy Souls, who are supposed to come back to their old house on that night. A good fire is left
