- When driving horses you say "go on Moll, gee up, hop off" The fodder that horses get is hay, cracked corn, grains, turnip, mangolds, potatoes, oats. The horses are brought to a blacksmith to be shod. He pares the hoofs and then nails on an iron shoe. The horses would be lame without shoes. The horses are clipped every Winter. A machine is used to clip them. They are clipped to keep them from sweating.
