- There is a fair held in Ballycumber, parish of Ballinahown, every year on the 2nd of May. In this fair cattle and pigs are sold and the pigs are weighed in a house called Morgan's before they are sold. If they about 16 sts. you would get a good price for them, but if they were over sixteen alone you would get as much as if they were just sixteen stone.The wasy a bargain is made locally is a man goes to sell a cow. Some man comes to him and says;
"What do you want for those old rags and bones?"
"Fifteen pounds"
"I'll give you ten."
Another man comes over to them and asks them;
"How much is betwee ye?"
They tell him, five pounds. The he says,
"Split the difference" and the cow is sold for £12-10.
They they strike hands and the bargain is finalised.- Collector
