Ar an leathanach seo

    supply filled they give a pipe to each person at the wake. When they get the pipe they say "Lord have mercy on him, or her" as the case may be.
    Tea is "served" at about 10 o'clock and after tea (generally at 12 o'clock) the rosary is said and the Litany for the Dead.
    After the rosary the people begin to leave. Relatives and near neighbours remain till morning. A few of the latter arrange to dig the grave.
    The corpse is taken to the chapel about 6 p.m. Relatives and neighbours attend this funeral. Mass is celebrated next morning for the repose of the soul of deceased.
    Before the funeral to the cemetery a small table is placed in the Church porch. The head of the house, or a near relative stands by the table with the priest. A hand bell is rung. The head of the house puts £1 or more on the table. Relatives and neighbours file in and leave 2/6 on the table. The man of the house takes up the money, counts it and gives it to the priest.
    It is considered a sign of great respectability if there is "good offerings".
