    At Ballyenarin, - along the coast between Greystones and Kilcoole, - there is a mound in a corner of a field.

    one inch deep there appears an inscription in Irish characters
    This granite monolith stands now 7 feet high in the centre of the old cemetery.

    Translated ÓR DO DICU OCUS (mael) ODRAN SAIR.
    Pray for Dicu and (Mael) ODRAN, the wright. There are three interesting points about this inscription
    1st. That the form ORDU may be in full ORIOT
    2nd That the names of two separate persons are commemorated in one legend.
    3rd That the epithet SAIR ( Welsh SAER ) meaning wright carpenter or artisan is added to distinguish the second person mentioned in the description whose name may have been Maelodran.
