- In the olden times Christmas was honoured very much because the people would not get meat from one end of the year to the other so they would have a great feast when Christmas would come and they would be delighted to hear that Christmas was near. When Christmas day came and the feast was performed all the family would rush to the table to see who would get the nearest to the sweet cake, some of the small children who would not have space at the table would be seated at the fire. They would not be pleased because they would not be able to get as much of the sweet cake as those who would be seated at the table then they would be sorry to see that the best time of Christmas was passed. So they would spare the rest of the food for "New Years Day" and the " Twelfth Day"
Then when St Stephens Day came many boys and grown up men would gather together proceed from house to house singing(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
